IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy Races

Clifford Wins The David Wood Memorial Trophy.

Aaron Clifford was in unbeatable form at Bishopscourt on Saturday completing a Supersport 600 double at the IFS Global Logistics, David Wood Memorial Trophy Races. The Drogheda teenager won the opening 600 race on the Kingsbury Packaging Kawasaki ZX-6R beating Sail To Pole winner Jason Lynn on his Walter Bell Suzuki across the line by 2 seconds and team mate Nikki Coates, winner of the David Wood Memorial Trophy for the past two years who finished in third.

Clifford got his second hand on the David Wood trophy winning the second supersport race after a close fought battle with Robert Kennedy, Kennedy led the race from the start then on lap six of the 9 lap race Clifford made his move to the front eventually gapping Kennedy slightly and beating him to the flag by 1.3 seconds with Lynn in third.

In the Superbike races it was Bangors Robert English on the IFS Global Logistics Yamaha R1 who also had a double win. Race one he finished 2.5 seconds in front of Nikki Coates and Charles Stuart taking the third step on the podium with Gerard Kinghan who was struggling with a quickshifter problem in the latter stages of the race managing to hang on to fourth. Race two English and Coates again finished first and second English this time by a greater margin of 4.3 seconds and Kinghan third.
