Former Irish Superbike Champion, Charles Stuart, conspicuously absent in recent months, will return to the fray at the 42nd Sunflower Trophy Races this weekend. Stuart will be on board the JMcC Roofing Kawasaki superbike as previously ridden by the 2019 USBK Champion, Carl Philips who won no less than eleven races, before parting from the team.
Former off road competitor, Stuart made a very impressive mark on his short circuit debut, winning the Formula One Superbike championship, before moving into the ISB Superbike cup in 2016. The Ballycastle rider went on to win this championship, which also included outright wins. For 2017, Stuart was Yamaha mounted, and he continued his success run, by clinching the Irish Superbike Title!. Unfortunately work forced a temporary retirement form the sport, although he has kept himself competitive with off road events. Also lining up on the grid alongside Stuart will be team mate Ryan Gibson. Gibson, son of former British Championship Rallycross driver Lawrence Gibson, has put in some impressive performances during the 2019 season.
Stuarts return to the sport, along with this years USBK Champion, Carl Philips, Ali Kirk,Nico Mawhinny, Gerard Kinghan , Aaron Armstrong, Gary McCoy, Stephen McAdoo etc, can only be good for the sport, and along with 2019 British Superstock champion, last years Sunflower Trophy race winner Richard Cooper, McAMNS Yamahas Harry Truelove, The G&S Race team, and another Buildbase Suzuki entered, with a rider to be confirmed later in the week, its all looking good for the 42nd Sunflower Trophy races.
