OUR SPORTS FUTURE IS IN OUR YOUTH OF TODAY!
It is with great pleasure we can now announce our Team Wood Youth Academy line up for 2021.
The last 18 months have been difficult for everyone with covid 19 restrictions effecting all aspects of life never mind motorcycle racing. This prevented The Motorcycle Road Racing Club of Ireland committee to scout for new potential young riders to move into the National racing scene.
Our fully supported rider from 2020 moved onto British Talent Cup series at BSB, as events in Northern Ireland where as good as wiped out. Alexander has made fantastic steps forward and will continue to impress us all in 2021.
We are fortunate to sign up a young 12yr old for 2021, Ruben Boyd from Ballyclare has just moved to national level racing and will have the full support of the Team Wood Motorcycle Youth Academy. He will also use the Academy Tianda 300cc machine in the National USBK Championship Moto-One class and Mondello Masters series.
Ruben comes from a racing family background; his grandfather Bertie Boyd ran the successful Village Carpets team. Tim Stott winning several Championships on the 125GP machine, Mark & Andrew Boyd racing in 125 & 250cc classes. Village Carpets team had a strong connection also with the late David Wood. This makes this signing of young Ruben more special.
Ruben has cut his teeth racing at the successful IMC mini bike Championships, this is a great learning field for the young competitors from the age of 6. All our supported riders in the Academy have come via IMC mini bikes. This leads us back to our motto “OUR SPORTS FUTURE IS IN OUR YOUTH OF TODAY”
Academy competitors are Ruben Boyd Ballyclare, Martin Burnett Glengormley, Kai McClintock, Ballymena, Lee Hara, Coleraine, Callum Clint Ballywalter, Dean Graham Lisburn.
All academy competitors will have trade, discounts and other support from Arai Helmets, Wiz Knee sliders, Rea Timber Craft, Signstik, Nutt Travel, Pirelli tyres, ANJ Parts, The Visorshop- Crossan Motorcycles, The Irish Classic Bike Festival and Misano Imports.
The future of our sport is the Youth of today, this is our start to helping towards the future and hopefully another World Champion.
We will endeavour to build on the academy and the number of competitors we currently help in 2021, Anyone wishing to contribute to the academy please contact MCRRCI club.
We wish all the competitors a safe, fun season.
